VEGAN UN-HONEY FAQ’S
Yes, that’s what the farmers did, they built these Un-Honeys as a replacement.
What is Un-Honey made of?
Un-Honey is a planet based Honey alternative that has been developed specifically by our farmers to taste as good or better than regular bee honey but using plant based ingredients. The texture and usability matches any honey on the market but provides the bees with a much needed rest.
Each Un-Honey is built from a single plant based ingredient by our farmers.
BLONDE – Unblended Organic Coconut Nectar
AMBER – Unblended Organic Cane Nectar
COPPER – Unblended Organic Date Nectar
Why does Un-Honey crystallize?
Un-Honey can naturally crystallize if it sits in your cupboard for any length of time. Sometimes you may just notice that your Un-Honey has become more opaque, if it has been left a little longer it could turn grainy and gritty.
Thankfully this process is completely natural and is the way that Un-Honey looks after and preserves itself!
What should I do if the Un-Honey becomes crystallized?
Anyone that buys and uses Un-Honey regularly could experience some crystallization in their Un-Honey.
Crystallized Un-Honey is just as good as runny liquid Un-Honey and some recipes will even require crystallized Un-Honey. The crystals tend to multiply quickly once the Un-Honey has started the crystallization process, but no, your Un-Honey is perfectly fine to use and eat in crystallized form and most certainly not ruined! You can melt your crystallized Un-Honey.
How do I melt crystallized Un-Honey?
As we’ve already mentioned, there is nothing wrong with crystallized Un-Honey. You can drizzle it over oatmeal, or have it on toast, waffles, or anything that takes your fancy. Our Un-Honey retains all of its flavor, quality, and nutrition when crystallized, so in most cases for cooking, you can continue to use it as you normally would.
If you would like to return the Un-Honey to a smooth condition.
The method we recommend for our Un-Honey is the warm bath method.
(OUR WARM BATH METHOD)
There are many crazy online suggestions that we have read about over the years, some involving microwaves, boiling water and even putting the bottle in a dishwasher! Whether these methods work or not life doesn’t need to be as complicated or extreme (extreme temperatures can affect and destroy the balance of nutrients and flavor).
To de-crystallize your Un-Honey, all you will need is some warm water from your kitchen tap and a bowl:
- Place an un-honey bottle in a bowl.
- Fill the bowl with water from your kitchen tap.
- Leave the bottle in the bowl for up to 20 minutes or refill with fresh warm water after every 5 minutes until you are happy. (depending on the severity of crystallization)
- Once the crystals have disappeared please allow for the temperature to normalize before re-use.
