Indian Kantha Silk Blanket #0242

$69.99

Kantha blankets are hand sewn blankets made of recycled saris (a traditional, flowing women’s garment in India) stitched together…every piece is stitched to the next, edges are hand sewn, and they are hand quilted. They are SO soft and silky, the perfect movie-watching blanket that everyone will love.

These are 2 layer silk blankets on both front and back, soft and silky compared to a cotton kantha blanket. These are more finely stitched, and yours may even have decorative stitching and edging!

Size: 56 x 86 inches (great large throw, travel, or twin bed blanket!)
Design: As Shown (photo #1)

These are fair trade, made by women working at home looking to make additional income for their families. Funds from sales are directly helping people who work hard and live under difficult conditions. The ladies making these are given the fabric already purchased in bulk, and paid per blanket (pay price depending on size). Imperfections, loose cotton quilting threads, small stains, holes and patches should be expected!

Care Instructions: Wash on gentle cycle, air or dry on low or no heat. Never sun dry silk!

*Please note: The fabric used to make these blankets has never seen a washing machine so any staining will be reduced or removed when washed. Blankets are air treated for delivery to the US from India per US law, wash (and dry!) 2-3 times before use to remove any smell left by this treatment. Add vinegar to detergent to speed up the process.
